How to display your digital canvas print

There are two main ways of displaying your canvas prints. The method chosen depends largely on personal taste and where the print will be hung. However, the decision regarding the method of display needs to be made before the digital canvas print is ordered as different methods of display will require different techniques of printing and mounting.

FRAMING – This is a traditional way of displaying artwork that is designed to be hung on walls. It has been used for centuries for oil paintings and water colours and, more recently, for canvas print. After the image is printed, the canvas is trimmed to size and glued or stapled to traditional stretcher bars and displayed in your choice of frame.

GALLERY WRAP – For a more contemporary look, especially for abstract art and digitally generated images, gallery wrapping can be used.  This is a method of stretching a canvas by wrapping it around the stretcher bar sides and securing to the back of the wooden frame so that the staples that hold it in place cannot be seen.. The image appears on the sides of the frame as well as the front, allowing for a frameless presentation to enhance the three-dimensional effect of the mounted canvas print.

Gallery-wrap is a very popular way to display canvas digital printing.  However, because the edges of the canvas are wrapped over thick bars, about two inches from each side are lost in the wrap.  To overcome this, we can provide full-bleed print that is designed to continue round the edges of a stretcher frame once gallery-wrapped to prevent a loss of the visible image area.
